Where to play pickleball in Taipei for free

Free courts come in two kinds, and it helps to know which you are going to.

The first kind needs no booking. Youth Park in Wanhua has courts converted from old badminton courts, open all day and lit until 10 pm. Huazhong Riverside Park has courts with windbreak nets and three opening windows: 8 am to noon, 1 pm to 5 pm and 6 pm to 10 pm. Both are free and, according to Marie Claire Taiwan, need no booking. No session is listed there, so finding a game is up to you. That listing is the only source for these hours, so confirm them on site.

The second kind has a regular open play. These are the sessions the Taiwan pickleball association lists, and they are the easiest way to get a game without knowing anyone:

VenueDistrictOpen playCost
Zhishan Park (至善公園)ShilinTue and Thu 6:30 pm to 10 pm, Sat and Sun 2 pm to 6 pmFree
Jingmei riverside (景美河濱)WenshanSat and Sun 7 am to 11:30 amFree
Tianmu Park (天母公園)ShilinMon to Fri 8:30 am to noonFree
Taoyuan Elementary School (桃源國小)BeitouSat and Sun 9 am to noonFree

At Zhishan, you join the queue on site or through a local group. The Jingmei court is shared with badminton and booked with the Taipei Department of Sports, so check the booking page before you plan a game there. The hours are the ones on the association’s listing, which has no date on it, so they may have moved.

Mingde, Maishuai Bridge and Linong Park also have public pickleball courts and show up on the map. Their hours and fees are not confirmed, so check on site.

Pickleball open play at sports centers and schools

This is where many of the organized games are. You pay per person for a session, you do not need a partner, and the venue is indoors for most of them, which matters in a Taipei summer. The association lists more than a dozen in Taipei City:

Prices are per person for the session, not for the court. For the three sports centers, the Beitou MRT hall and NTUT, the listing gives the association’s contact for Taipei ([email protected]). For the schools, it points to a LINE account (@579urgnx). Neither is the venue’s own booking line, so expect to message first and ask.

Greater Taipei plays across the river too. The association lists 12 more sessions in New Taipei, in the same format and at similar prices:

Ten of the twelve list the same LINE account as the Taipei schools (@579urgnx). Sanxia (02-2674-9088) and Yingge (02-8678-2677) give a phone number instead, and Yingge only takes bookings by phone.

Two courts have no listed session:

Danfeng Elementary School, Xinzhuang. A covered school court near Huilong MRT station. A local group posts open play there on Sunday afternoons, informally and without a date, so ask the group before you go. No fee is confirmed.

New Taipei Metropolitan Park courts. Outdoor courts built for pickleball. The rule reported for them is first come, first served, with four players per court in rotation. It comes from a pickleball guide that was not rechecked, so ask on site.

In Luzhou, the public court on Shuhong 12th Road is short of capacity, according to a Lianhe Daily report of June 2026. The same report says two more courts are planned under Chenglu Bridge, not built at the time.

Pickleball courts in Taipei: address, hours and how to get in

Youth Park, Wanhua. Courts on the former badminton courts at 199 Shuiyuan Road. Free, no booking, lit until 10 pm.

Huazhong Riverside Park, Wanhua. On the Xindian River, the same park as the football pitches in our guide to football in Taipei. Free, no booking, with windbreak nets.

Zhishan Park, Shilin. Free. Evenings are Tuesday and Thursday, afternoons are the weekend. Turn up and join the queue, or ask a local group.

Beitou Sports Center, Beitou. On the second floor, with wood floors and air conditioning, according to Marie Claire Taiwan. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Saturday late afternoon, NT$200 to NT$300 a head. The address is 100 Lane 39, Section 1, Shipai Road.

Private pickleball clubs in Taipei: court prices

You pay for the court by the hour, then split it. The three clubs below have indoor courts, so the weather matters less. Checked on 8 October 2026:

Downstairs Pickle Ball Club, Beitou. Courts booked by the hour, trial sessions, and a shop for gear.

Ahhh Pickleball Social Hub, Zhongzheng. A club with a bar. Courts booked by the hour, in the city center.

Expo Park MAJI Pickleball Garden, Zhongshan. Indoor and outdoor courts in Expo Park, near Yuanshan MRT. Booked online.

Most clubs checked in October 2026 charged between NT$700 and NT$1,300 an hour for a court, and a few in the city center charged more than NT$2,000. A court holds four players, so at NT$1,200 an hour that is NT$300 each. Prices move, so confirm before you tell anyone to turn up.

There are more clubs than these three. Search the neighborhood on Google Maps and read the most recent reviews, because prices and opening hours change often.

How to book a pickleball court in Taipei

There is no single system, so it depends on where you are going.

At Youth Park and Huazhong there is nothing to book. Zhishan runs on the queue. Jingmei is the exception among the free courts: you book it through the Taipei Department of Sports booking system.

For the sports center and school sessions, use the contacts under the table above and ask which session suits your level. Xinyi courts are booked on site or by phone, three days ahead.

For a private club, use its booking page or LINE account, and ask about paddle rental and how payment works before you commit.

Play pickleball in Taipei without booking anything

The easiest way is to show up at a free session, such as Zhishan Park, and join the queue. If you would rather find a group first, the Taipei groups directory lists Taiwan International Pickleball (TIP), an English-speaking Facebook group that shares games around the city. For how a game like that is run, read how to organize pickleball open play in Taipei.

How FitHere helps

A court holds four players, so a game works with eight or twelve and falls apart with seven. On FitHere, each game has its own event page: players RSVP, you set a minimum, and the waiting list moves up when someone drops out. FitHere is free for organizers and players.

You can host an event in 2 clicks, then share the link in your LINE group.
